Flanged capacitor discharge (CD) weld stud, 10-24 thread x 1" long, aluminum 1100 series. The .250" flange is the weld face: the precision tip initiates a millisecond discharge that fuses the entire flange to the base metal before heat can travel, which is what allows CD welding to sheet as thin as 25 ga with no marking on the reverse side. Length after weld is approximately 31/32". Drive with any capacitor discharge stud welding gun using a 10-24 collet; seat square and fire. Weld to aluminum sheet and extrusion of the 1100, 3000, 5000 and 6000 series. Properly set studs develop full joint strength in matched aluminum: maximum fastening torque 6.5 in-lb, ultimate tensile 380 lb, maximum shear 235 lb. Replaces drilled-and-tapped fastening on panels, enclosures, signage and architectural work where only one side is accessible.
